Snowdrop began in 2023 with the idea of forming an Arctic Monkeys cover band. Sam Waring (lead guitar) suggested starting the project and asked Connor Munro (bass) to join. Connor then brought in Dylan Evans (drums) and Ryley Johnson (vocals and guitar). The group connected quickly and the plan was to rehearse a few covers and see where it might lead.
During the early practices the direction of the band changed. Ryley had a song called Diamond saved in his bank for some time and he brought it to the others. Once Diamond was finished as a full band it became clear that original music was the way forward. Covers became a starting point but the focus shifted fully toward developing their own material.
From Diamond the band began working on further ideas including Silhouette and several early tracks that helped shape their sound even if some did not make the final cut. This progress led to their first live opportunity at Macc Beer Fest in 2024 where they played a support slot. The performance helped them secure an early audience and they were invited back the following year.
Their return in 2025 marked a significant step as their development over the year earned them a headline slot in front of hundreds. Since then Snowdrop have continued to grow through headline shows sold out events and a steady run of releases that led to the EP Seek Grace.
Snowdrop now operate as a focused independent indie rock band with a clear identity and consistent momentum. Their newest releases Morning Thoughts and Stomping Ground signal the beginning of a more rock driven era. The band also recently released a teaser reel hinting at a heavier sound with more new music coming soon.
